In South-western Turkey on the Mediterranean coastline lies Antalya, one of Turkey''s most (justifiably) popular holiday destinations. The location is beautiful: not only do you have the Mediterranean Ocean before you but its situated on coastal cliffs and surrounded by jaw-droppingly beautiful mountains.

The climate is excellent: highs reach around thirty-five degrees Celsius with lows dropping to only around fifteen degrees Celsius in January. The beautiful location and gorgeous climate are just a few of Antalya''s delights however; here is a guide to a few of the others.

Antalya''s airport has recently added a new terminal, meaning it''s easier than ever to get there. Of all the airports in Turkey Antalya is probably the most popular: this means it''s extremely easy to find a flight there and it''s also often possible to get good deals on flights. However, visitors should remember that Antalya''s other transport systems haven''t quite caught up with the increase in the number of tourists visiting. This means that trains and buses can often be over-crowded or irregular.

Another fantastic beach is Lara. Along the beach lie many hotels, ranging from 5 to an impressive 7 stars in terms of rating. These hotels are all designed with a particular theme in mind ? for example, several are replicas of palaces from around the world ? and some of them make for truly spectacular sites. This has led to the area being nicknamed ''The Las Vegas of Turkey''.

If you want something a little more cultural from your holiday there are some beautiful locations around Turkey. Kaleici is the city''s historical centre, and features a bustling atmosphere and some beautiful architecture. Hadrians gate, a gate constructed by the Romans in the 2nd century by the Romans to honour the Emperor Hadrian, is a particularly impressive piece of architecture whilst Minarets like Yivli Minare (Fluted Minaret) or Kesik Minare (Broken Minaret) are other beautiful sites.
