Some people are just at home in a city. The countryside they find too quiet and eerie, to far from modern civilisation as they prefer to experience it and simply too inconvenient when you just want to pop to the shop to stock up on coffee or a fresh pint of milk and other essential groceries.

For some people going on holiday means cutting themselves off from everything. They want to be as far away from everything that reminds them of the hustle and bustle of the modern world as their advance booking, long distance flight can possibly take them. For city lovers, however, this is not the point of a holiday. In fact, for city lovers, this simply would not be a holiday at all.

If you love a good city break but have already travelled extensively around Europe, it could be time to sink your teeth into something that is situated a little further away from home. If you haven''t yet been to the Ontarian capital of Toronto, why not give it a try?

Toronto is enormous. Prepare to feel antlike as you sightsee your way through the wide city streets, lined with cloud touching skyscrapers and full of enormous four track ...
... vehicles ? necessary for when the snow kicks in during the harsh winter months.

A fantastic way to introduce yourself to the city is with a visit to the famous CN tower. Once the tallest building in the world, this spectacular tower offers phenomenal views over the entire city, giving you a clear idea of its scale and geography. The revolving restaurant at the top serves award winning cuisine inspired by destinations from all over the world. This is the perfect place to spend your first evening in the city.

Toronto is also a fabulous destination for shopping. Not only are there a number of impressive department stores stocking all your favourite designers, there is also a vast underground shopping centre to explore, featuring boutiques run by as yet little known designers and all manner of artistic creations. This makes a wonderful place to wander on a rainy afternoon.

If you are coming to Toronto on a family holiday, then you should be sure to check out the Science and Technology museum. Exhibits here are almost all hands on and there are frequent performances and special events designed to get your young ones enthusiastic about science. Warning: adults, you may enjoy this vibrant, fun filled, educational centre to an embarrassing degree.

There are many ways to budget for your trip to Toronto. Check out the hotel deals on Octopus Travel and try using Sky Scanner to find the best value Transatlantic flights. Long term travel and leisure enthusiast Bonny Kominek has over 10 years travelling experience, and would recommend booking agents such as octopustravel.com when searching for Toronto hotels.
