Hiring a boat to view the stark and spectacular white cliffs plunging into the turquoise seas is one of the most pleasurable ways to spend a day on Zakynthos. The water is crystal clear and the reflections of the pristine cliffs glimmer hypnotically in the sparkling sunshine. This is surely one of Zakynthos'' most beautiful sights.

The Navagio Shipwreck is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Zakynthos. If you want to really explore the wreckage in relative peace and quiet it is crucial to visit either first thing in the morning or after 3pm to avoid the worst of the tourist crush. The wreckage has planted itself on the coastline in such a picturesque manner it has found its way into many an advert for the Greek tourist industry. Visitors to Zakynthos continue to find that it inspires their imaginations to conjure the lives and faces of the pirates that once inhabited this ship.

Like many Greek islands, Zakynthos is immensely proud of its home brews. From beer, through to wine, on to something a little stronger, like Metaxa or Ouzo, Zakynthos is home to a range of boozy treats. Befriend a few locals and ...
... you are sure to experience your fair share.

Last but not least, be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to recline on the beach. While some may be busy during peak season, there are plenty of quieter options available if you like to have your privacy while relaxing on the shoreline. Bonny Kominek was impressed by a recent holiday booked with Octopus Travel, and decided to write this article about Zakynthos hotels.
