Abdominal Cramps Pregnant
Cramping During Pregnancy
First of all let me say that being pregnant does not mean you have to live with this. Cramping pains is so prevalent with not only pregnant, but newborn mums. When seeing your body go from conception to the first birthday celebration of your newborn, the changes are drastic and traumatic for your body. Especially your abdominal area.
Your muscles are working all the time to help you stay balanced throughout your day. The abdominals which are found around your belly button wrap around your torso to attach to your spine. This area has very important muscles that are used to hold yourself upright, and help you have a strong back. As your baby gets larger with time, it will stretch your abdominals to extreme lengths. This causes your muscles to work from a stretched and abnormal position. These extra stresses will lead to damage to the muscles with trigger points and strain. This may present as pain, tightness and sensitivity to this area.
As your abdominals start to lose their strength, the extra weight your new belly has adopted means something has to take up the extra load. Many ...
... mums feel cramping in the lower back, upper back and their legs. Cramping occurs when the muscles are overworked and your body no longer has the energy to keep up with your demands and the muscles seize up. The lack of abdominal strength and extra weight in the belly puts extra pressure on your already fragile spine.
You may also notice in the mirror when looking side on, that your pelvis is tilted forwards during the second and third terms of pregnancy. It is natural for this to occur, but it does however strain your hips. Performing your normal tasks such as walking and lifting in this tilted position will lead to your joints enduring a lot more stress as they are not aligned in their ideal position.
Many new mums undergo a suzerain birth, whether it is out of choice or a difficult birth. In this procedure, a large cut pierces through your abdominal wall to access the womb. After this procedure, the necessary steps to rehabilitate the area does not occur. The consequence of this is usually poorly healed abdominal muscles. Muscles that are poorly healed means they no longer work properly.
