Computer data backup is essential in every industry. The question is: what happens if you were to lose all of your company computer data? This is a horrifying thought for many business owners, but the reality is this happens each and every day to business owners around the globe. In this article I want to show you what you can do to ensure that your organization has an effective computer data backup plan in place.
In many respects technology has made our lives easier. The problem with this is that often times business owners rely too much on the fact that their computer data and files will always be there, and do not take a second to step back, and think about what would happen in the event of a system crash, or natural disaster.
Would your data be safe?
This is a legitimate concern for all organizations, but the problem is that it gets put on the "back burner" and never really comes to fruition. Thinking "Oh I will do it next month" is at some point going to be one month too late.
Many organizations also fall under the false assumption that tape drives cannot fail, when in reality tape drives will ...
... all sooner or later fail. When this happens, you better have a data backup plan in place, or it could take weeks or even months to get your organization up and running.
Here are a couple of things that you need to consider when looking to backup your computer data and files:
1. Make sure the data is backed up hourly. Many computer data backup firms only backup data once per day, or worse once per week. Now, this may not sound like a big deal, but your organization can potentially lose a lot of information in less than a 24 hour period. The best data backup companies will back up your data hourly.
2. Offsite Backup. Your data needs to be backed up on a secure server, in a third party location. Backing up your files onsite is a good practice, but if a natural disaster hits your place of business then you could potentially lose all of your data within a matter of seconds. To ensure this does not happen, you must hire a computer data backup firm that will backup your data offsite.
As you can see, losing your computer data could be a disaster for your business. Don't be that business owner that waited too long.

New York computer consulting company Zbrella helps companies implement on-site and offsite computer data backup recovery systems and networks.
