Camping Holiday
Just returned from our summer holiday in Devon. We all had a great time camping, not so much sleeping under the stars but with all the mod cons of a caravan or even some holiday homes. Even the great british weather didn't spoil our enjoyment as we made camp with our tent and set up our own personal area using a windbreak. We got our extra tall windbreak before we traveled from www.iosss.com which was a good idea as it cost a lot less than they were to buy in Devon. Also as we packed the car to maximum capacity had we bought the windbreak there we would have not had room to bring it back. Looking forward to our next camping holiday and we will be sure to pack all our mod cons, including out 10 pole extra tall windbreak. Not sure which is best, beach holiday or country side, I think we will try the country side holiday so can compare to the beach holiday and will report on the outcome.
We have been on package holidays to spain and greece which is great if you are looking for sun and hotter weather but when you go on holiday looking for some of the culture and to experience in some way how others live you don't get that ...
... from a package holiday to the costas. In fact some places in Spain are more like going to the british sea side than going in this country as you see more English abroad and more foreign people at home.
So for a real authentic less commercial holiday try camping. You can visit some great british resorts and experience some of the country side without the anoyance of all the british and irish bars.
If any one considers taking up camping as a result of reading this article be sure to plan your trip as you can easily find your self stuck in the middle of no where without an essential item. From packing the car to setting up camp, then sleeping and cooking, you need to ensure that you take every thing as when your in a field with other more experienced campers and youve forgoten the gas for your stove and the wife is making sure every one on the site knows. Its realy embarasing.
Theres some thing about sleeping in a field with only a thin sheet of nylon between you and the night that makes you feel more at one with nature and real outdoor life, even if your the most city dwelling person in the world you should try camping just to experience the feeling of being so close to nature and in this day there are so many camping products that you don't have to go without mod cons. There are wind up lights, shavers, radios or many other things that run on 12v car sockets or batteries and even many solar powered items. You can even buy solar powered torches which defeats to object of a torch if you ask me.
Don't forget to pack the kids, specially on the return journey or the wife will probably never forgive you.
