Empowering Women Through Small Businesses: A Path To Financial Independence
True empowerment means giving women the tools to be financially self-sufficient, and in India,
one of the most impactful ways to achieve this is through small business support. For many
women, starting a small business offers a way to build a better future, not just for themselves
but for their families and communities. However, they need foundational skills to succeed—like
managing finances, handling digital tools, and keeping business records. With these skills,
women gain the confidence and capability to start, run, and grow their own businesses
sustainably.
Spherule Foundation has been leading this effort across India by providing women with the
resources and training they need to launch small businesses. In collaboration with various
corporate partners, Spherule Foundation has already helped more than 50,000 women become
successful entrepreneurs. These women come from diverse backgrounds and are breaking into
fields they may never have thought possible before. They now run small businesses in areas
such as handicrafts, food, tailoring, ...
... and digital services. Their success stories are inspiring, so
much so that they've been shared at prestigious institutions like Oxford University and IITs,
highlighting the impact of Spherule Foundation’s work on a global stage.
These women entrepreneurship programs offer more than just business skills; they bring
practical life skills that extend far beyond profit and loss. Digital literacy, for example, enables
women to reach a broader customer base online, expanding their reach beyond their local
communities. Financial literacy gives them control over their earnings, allowing them to track
expenses, plan for profits, and make informed decisions about their businesses.
When women achieve financial independence, it creates a ripple effect. Their earnings help
support their families’ education, healthcare, and overall well-being, directly benefiting their
communities. When communities are empowered through these women, it fosters a stronger,
more inclusive society. Supporting women in business isn't just an act of charity
