Referred to as the Devbhoomi or Land of Gods, Uttarakhand is the homeland of several temples and is open to worshippers throughout the year, the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is one of the most reputed religious pilgrimages in Uttarakhand, among the various other circuits and locations that pilgrims visit.
 
Char in Hindi entails four, while “Dham” entails sacred places. The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is a religious pilgrim,age circuit encompassing the holy homes of four Hindu gods, mainly Yamunotri, the home of Goddess Yamuna. The Yamuna and Ganga rivers, which are considered holy in India, originate at the Yamunotri and Ganga dhams, respectively. The Kedarnath Dham is a part of the Panch Kedar and the highest of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. The Badrinath Dham is also a part of the Panch Badri and the Char Dham Yatra.

... circuit is presumed to be completed in a clockwise sequence. Therefore, it commences at Yamunotri, continues to Kedarnath and Gangotri, and ends at Badrinath. Due to lime limitations, some devotees in today’s hectic world even go on the Do Dham Yatra, which is a pilgrimage to two out of four dhams, namely Badrinath and Kedarnath or Gangotri and Yamunotri.
 
Season of Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand
 
The Char Dham in India is hard yet divine and soul-satisfying. These high altitude enshrines close for almost half of the year and can be visited only from May to October. They open on Akshaya Tritiya (April or May) in the summer and and close two days after Diwali, marking the beginning of winter on the day of Bhai Dooj. The Char Dham tour is enjoyable and convenient due to the good weather throughout these months. The journey to Char Dham can be finished by air through a helicopter or by air.
 
Yamunotri Dham Uttarakhand
 
The Yamunotri Dham is the starting point of the Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra. Yamunotri is the place of origin of the river Yamuna, India’s second most sacred river. According to mythological preferences, Yamuna is the daughter of the sun deity Surya.
 
Badrinath Mandir Uttarakhand
 
Badrinath is one of the most sacred shrines for Vaishnavites, as it is among the 108 divya desams where Lord Vishnu took on human form. According to the scriptures, this sacred territory of Lord Vishnu is also known as Vishnudham or Vishalpuri. The term “Badari” refers to a specific type of wild berry. It is the source of the name of the Badarinath tirtha. The Vishnu Purana mentions that Lord Vishnu arrived at Badrinath looking for serenity and solitude. His spouse, Giddess Laxmi, took the disguise of a berry tree and safeguarded him from the scorching sun while he sat in penitence in these mountains.
