Designing Injection Molds In China: Effective Tips For Success

• To minimize undercuts that make part removal more difficult and can call for extra removal tools, find the parting line.
Designing for the Location of the Part Ejection Pin
The positions of the ejector pins may appear straightforward: ensure that plastic material covers every area. It's a little trickier to make sure that the pin locations are covered in detail, though. Although it is normal for the ejector pins to leave markings on the plastic component's surface, these marks can be included in the part's aesthetics.
Angle of Draft
For simple ejection of plastic components, make sure the mold's walls have the proper draft angle. A minimum of 0.5 to about 2 degrees is what we advise. As a general guideline, for every inch of depth added, add one more degree of draft. For portions with texture, raise the draft angle as well. To prevent the component from being stuck in the mold, it is imperative that both the injection mold tooling and the injection molded part design have enough draft angles.
