Hotels are not inexpensive and I hate spending money on the room. I am just going to be in there for a few hours. It is why I mainly avoid hotels, and I don’t think they are a great use of money. I would rather stay in a hostel, which costs less, comes with more social interactions, and doesn’t make you feel removed from the destination you are staying at. Get in touch with the hotel directly- Get the hotel, call them up and ask them about the available offers. If they are an international brand, the big advantage of direct bookings is that you just earn loyalty points and status when you book direct, hence if you love miles and earning points, don’t book their rooms anywhere else!

 
Purchase someone else’s reservation- Frequently people can’t go on a trip and can’t cancel the reservation, so instead of losing the money, hotels sell it at a discount to earn some money back.
