Stunning Beaches On Egypt's Coastlines (red Sea & Mediterranean)

Egypt is an ideal picturesque holiday hotspot with so many beautiful beaches, each offering unique qualities, the purpose of this article is to give a sample of some of the best beaches to help you find your ideal golden shores.

Some of the beaches are well known, multi-purpose, others more secretive; tucked away in coves and bays. All wrap around the stunning Egypt land mass reaching out into the welcoming cool blue seawaters, notably the popular Red Sea but also including some emerging 'good to know' beaches on Egypt's northern Mediterranean coastline.

With so many beaches on offer, it can often be like picking a needle in a sand dune?! Let's flow onto a sample of recommended areas, a further insight which provides a good cross section of the range of beaches Egypt has to offer. The two main beach zones are the more popular Red Sea Mainland coastlines stemming from the Gulf of Suez, and the fast growing Northern Mediterranean coast.

Red Sea Mainland Coast (Gulf of Suez)

... many hotels and often hotel beach territories. The public beach is fairly basic and often congested in comparison to the many private hotel beaches dotted around. However, with many of the prime spots offering small fees to use for non hotel guests, it's often worth it for a day on the beach. You don't usually just get the sand for sunbathing and sea for swimming, there are activities on offer along the stretch offering the likes of snorkelling, glass boats coral trips, pedalos and other related fun activities.

Travel more south of Hurghada (excluding Marsa Alam) to find sparser beaches (facilities are more sparse as well as crowds). Eco-beach camps are spreading across these more "hidden" treasured areas as well (a whole other story).

Marsa Alam is becoming a real tourist location in it's own right, especially for scuba diving camps. El-Gouna also provides many luxurious beach options, located 22 km north of Hurghada International Airport.

The above touches on the middle ground and southerly beaches, finally towards the tip of the Gulf (of Suez) beholds the Ain Sukhna area; many more good beach hotspots, popular with it's close proximity to Cairo.

Northern Mediterranean Coast

Agami Beach, around Alexandria up at the northern coast is slightly against the more popular grain centred around the Red Sea, and is just one example of many long standing beaches amongst so many new emerging beaches. Northern Egypt is often seen as underdeveloped in comparison to the more popular locations in Egypt, however an "up and coming" phrase is more suitable, especially Alexandria which is lined with many stunning beaches. Often beach resorts are segregated, self-contained beach escapes where tourists don't often stray to far as beach paradises are literally on the doorsteps.
