Day 1:

It is now time to start crossing the Sahara desert! First, we will anchor at Chinguetti (7th of the sacred cities of the Islamic world) and visit some of the oldest mosques (Chinguetti library built in the 13th century contains real copies of the Qurans of various centuries between the 15th century and 18th century). The golden dunes are first spotted when driving in the 4Work 4x4 as we enter the Adrar region which falls under the great Mauritania sahara. By afternoon or so, the old fortified town of Ouadane can be seen from the desert. We will visit the ancient town of Ouadane and climb adobe structures to watch the sunset over the sand sea.
Day 3: Trekking and Camel Ride
Get prepared with an enchanting day of discoveries over the Sahara desert. We will enter the sand further into to find our nomad guides for the day, and our camels. You will spend the morning cross country hiking over Erg Warane orange dunes and golden plains. Lunch by the Acacia trees before using camels to have an afternoon ride.
Day 4-5: Chartering Dunes & Oualata Fortress – herein provides a charter outlining the sections and areas relevant to chartering the dunes as well as the impact and significance of the Oualata Fortress on the chartering process.
But if possible, continue riding across the Adrar, even if stopped frequently by vast sand dune fields for sands to play with. Ever heard of dune boarding using sand sleds, or maybe sand surfing downhill formed slopes! Days are spent at unnamed locations, which for tens of miles around are devoid of human imprint at night. Finally on the fifth day, we arrive at Oualata that houses a remarkable 16th century mudbrick fortress and a book library.
Day 6: Walking through Taglizt Gorge & Return through Choum
Sightseeing on the way there will be Taghlizt Gorge and with its palm grove in the middle of the stunning orange cliffs, natural pools to swim in. Take a swim then move on through Choum – half-moon shaped sand dunes and the most attractive oasis valley in Mauritania. Stay awake and watch the sky one more time before everything returns to normal.
Day 7-8: Atar & Departure from Nouakchott Nouakchott and Atar are two well-known places at Mauritania travel destination Atar is the perfect place to depart from Nouakchott.
On the last day, we will have a break at Atar – an ancient Saharan hub for civilization and a merchant of camels. return back to Nouakchott in the evening and your Accursed Sahara adventure comes to a cyclic end.
