Know The Basic Science Behind Large Plant Pots

Plant pots, are pots that are larger in size than the common sorts of plant pots. The size of pots has a significant effect on the growth of the plants kept in them. If a pot is big in size it would give more space to the roots to spread out, and as a result, the plant would grow more in size.
The bigger, the better
Various conditions of the growth of plants, for example: water supply, soil status, fertilised base and others, are largely dependent on the ground the trees are rooted in. For example, plants can have smooth growth, if the supply of water is adequate. Larger plants naturally consume more water compared with smaller plants. Hence, if large plants are not supplied with the required amount of water, they will wither faster than the smaller ones that are getting the same amount of water. This instance proves how important it is to keep large plants in large pots.
There is a prevailing misconception that if plants are supplied with water and nutrients everyday, then space constraint for the roots will not be a hindrance to their growth and sustenance. When there is limited facility of space ...
... like in a tree nursery or a growth chamber where too many saplings and plants need to be stored, the smallest pots are used to put plants and pots of the maximum number possible inside the chamber. However, scientific experiments have shown how little value and truth this fallacy carries. It is important for a young plant to have all the mutually constitutive conditions of growth fulfilled. It should have ample water, ample food, sufficient light and enough space; each being equally important as the rest.
Be wise when you choose the pots
In case you are not aware if a sapling you are planting belongs to the large plant category or not, you should study the shape and size of its leaves. If the leaves show the tendency for growing big in size, then obtain a large plant pot and put the sapling in it. If you have already put it in a small pot, then transfer it to a plant pot at the earliest. The sooner this is done, the better, because if the sapling gets ample space for growth and sufficient resources from the very beginning, it will grow into a well-shaped large plant.
Additional advantages of plant pots
plant pots can not only contain more water, fertilisers and soil that are conducive to the growth of large plants, but also the abundant soil or planting ground in these pots provides a firm support to the base of large plants enabling these plants to keep standing erect. Hence, the strong support to the roots will enable the young plant to spread its branches and generate new leaves resulting in a healthy structure of the plant.
