In the era of generative AI, data scraping has become a significant issue. AI companies frequently collect data, including text, images, and videos, from websites without the creators' permission. Despite efforts from publishers to block web crawlers through robots.txt files, scraping is still legal, which makes prevention challenging.

Adobe has taken a proactive stance by introducing the Adobe Content Authenticity Web App on October 8. This free, easy-to-use tool enables creators to apply Content Credentials to their digital creations, protecting their work and ensuring attribution. These credentials, which are embedded with metadata, provide details about the creator and the content’s creation and editing history.

Given that 56% of creators are concerned about unauthorized use of their work for AI training, this tool allows them to set clear preferences and ensure that their content remains verifiable and protected throughout its lifecycle. Adobe is actively promoting industry-wide adoption of this practice to protect creators from the misuse of their work in AI models.
