Must Have Mens Shoes For 2010 - Flip-flops
The surprise hit of the summer, flip-flops for men have really taken off in 2010. With a bigger range of flip-flops on the high street than ever before, you are guaranteed to find a pair to suit your summer look. An inexpensive way to let your feet breathe during the hottest time of the year, flip-flops are versatile, comfortable and look great too provided you follow a few basic rules.
Choosing flip-flops as your summer footwear means you need to pay some attention to your feet. Our feet are usually hidden away for most of the year and they need some extra attention to get them ready to bare. Keep your toenails short, buff away dead skin with a pumice stone, and moisturise to get your feet in shape.
Buy a pair of flip-flops that are too big for your feet and people will be able to hear that familiar flip-flops sound for miles. Avoid this embarrassment by finding a pair that fit you properly. Your toes should fit comfortably without curling over the front edge, while the back edge should come to just past your heel.
For such a simple shoe, the flip-flop takes a real battering in the summer, from sweaty feet ...
... to sun, sea and sand. Cheaper varieties are convenient, but can wear out quite quickly. For these reasons it is a good idea to replenish your flip-flop stock every summer so you have a couple of fresh pairs to see you through the season.
Take care of your flip-flops and they will last you for longer. A simple wipe down with a damp cloth or sponge after each wear will keep them looking good. Foam varieties can bruise really easily, and one trick to help them replump and reshape is to steep them in a bath of hot soapy water, then let them dry naturally.
Wearing flip-flops too often can cause you some real pain. They may be perfect for lounging in the sun, but long walks in them every day of the week may leave your feet, back and knees suffering as they do not provide you with the kind of support your feet need, so do not over do it.
While flip-flops are perfect for lounging around, wearing at weekends and on holiday, you might want to avoid wearing them to more formal occasions, on nights out and to work. Baring your feet in these kinds of settings is a big no-no.
Flip-flops expose your feet to the elements and wearing any kind of shoe without socks can result in blisters and cuts from the excess chafing caused by your feet sweating in the sun. Take care of your feet and if they are showing signs of wear, then cover them up and give your flip-flops a break for a couple of days. Our guide to mens flip-flops was written by Barton Loi, an experienced stylist. They recommend checking the New Look website for their extensive range of affordable mens shoes and flip-flops for the summer.
