The example we will use is something we have all come across with, which is dealing with somebody who is suffering from a light scrape or cut. But do you know what to do when this happens?
It is important to wash your hands before touching anything, as you never know what you touched before. You could have touched something very dirty and full of microbes and bacteria's that could ...
... spread in a wound. Once this is done, it is then advised to cover any cuts you could have on your hands and use disposable plastic gloves before touching the wounded area. You never know how the person has been injured or if they have blood disorders or any diseases that could pass through blood exchange.
Once this part is done, you then need to clean the cut from any dirt. It is advised here to use a clean or even sterile material to clean the wound. A clean and dry dressing is often the best solution. It is also best to clean properly the surrounding area of the cut with soap for example, but to cover the cut while doing so.
Once all that is done, cover and protect the cut with dressing or a plaster and the work is done.

It exists many training sessions and diplomas you can follow and pass related to dealing with wounds and injured people, and it can be good for you to follow these courses just in case one of your friends or somebody in your family is in trouble one day. You could really save lives by knowing the basic first aid techniques.
It is also a good idea to always have close to you first aid kits just in case there is a problem one day.
