Due to numerous complaints, the hashtag #flipkartscam began trending on X.
Krishna Chaitanya, from Hyderabad, had a tough time trying to buy a Vivo T3 Ultra phone during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale 2024. He ordered the phone with 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM.
The phone originally cost Rs 31,999, but by trading in his old phone, an iQ007 Legend, through the Flipkart app, he got a special price of Rs 16,857. This price included a discount for using an SBI credit card.
Chaitanya ordered his phone on September 26, 2024, and was excited to get it on September 29. The delivery was confirmed on September 29, and everything seemed okay at first.
When the delivery agent arrived, he installed the Flipkart app on Chaitanya’s old phone and confirmed that everything was okay, including the IMEI number, which is a unique code for phones. However, to Chaitanya’s surprise, the agent then asked for the original box of the iQ007 Legend.
This request shocked Chaitanya because he had bought the phone nearly three years ago and had thrown away the box.
When he told the agent that he didn't have ...
... the box anymore, the agent insisted that he pay an extra Rs 5,100. Feeling confused and frustrated, Chaitanya decided to call Flipkart’s customer service for help.
During the call, the customer service representative said that the IMEI did not match and that he would need to pay the extra amount. Chaitanya explained that the delivery agent had already confirmed the IMEI match. The customer service agent promised to fix the issue by October 2. But when Chaitanya called back, he was told that Flipkart’s policy does not require extra payment if a customer does not have the original box.
Feeling helpless, Chaitanya decided to cancel his order. This left him without the new phone and at a loss of Rs 800 because the delivery agent had removed the tempered glass protector from the new device.
After this frustrating experience, Chaitanya searched online to see if others had similar problems. He found many complaints from other customers who had faced the same issues during the Big Billion Days Sale.
Disappointed with the service, Chaitanya called Flipkart's Big Billion Days Sale a fake offer. He shared his feelings on social media, and many others added their complaints.
Many customers said their orders were cancelled even after being confirmed, which made them feel cheated.
Due to numerous complaints, the hashtag #flipkartscam began trending on X, with many users sharing their experiences and questioning the sale's authenticity.
