Under inflation also increases tread wear. A "rule of thumb" is: Just 10% under inflation will reduce tire life by 11%. 30% under inflation will reduce tire life by 40%. Another "rule of thumb" demonstrates that tire wear increases by 30% when inflation is 20psi under target. It is not hard to understand that monitoring the tire pressure across a fleet of vehicles makes good sense and can lead to huge savings.

Maintaining constant good tire pressure will also lead to decreased maintenance costs, less roadside downtime, reduced damage to casings, better vehicle road handling with enhanced stability and braking and hence improved safety. This in turn can result in reduced insurance costs, less vehicle damage and fewer liability problems.
