Choosing the college one follows a lot of factors, such as degrees offered, quality and reputation, location, campus, costs, etc. Of course, one of the main factors influencing the choice is personal expectations based on one's academic achievements, abilities, financial possibilities, commitment and self-confidence.

Many students dream about entering elite colleges, but in many cases these dreams only stay dreams. Sometimes applicants do not even try to enter such colleges. But are thee colleges so frightful?

Really Strict Demands to Applicants.

As a rule, elite colleges do set up quite high standards for applicants. For instance, to become a student of an elite college you should show really good (sometimes outstanding) academic results, which often should go beyond the school program. Applicants should show some personal achievements not only in their academic activity. Of course, these demands are quite high, but possible to fit. If you are hard-working and committed during your last school years, you can achieve those high standard results. Be realistic, but optimistic.

Really Great Opportunities!

One ...
... should remember that elite colleges provide their students with really vast knowledge and professional skills. These colleges hire the best faculty; they can afford really good equipment for their classes and campus. The majority of graduates from these colleges are very successful in their real life. In these colleges students gain really golden experiences, which help them in their future lives.

Among these elite colleges the Ivy League Colleges keep their particular position. The names of these institutions are really famous and speak for themselves: Columbia, Dartmouth, etc. Only 30% of applicants enter these institutions. Though, the graduates from these colleges have really great opportunities.

Some people may say that these institutions are quite expensive. They really are. What to do? There are also Public Ivy Colleges: College of William & Mary, New College of the University of South Florida, etc. These colleges do have a very good faculty and the classes are also well-equipped due to different grants.

Thus, there are always a lot of opportunities for those who want to make success in their lives.
