Above and beyond the fact that we can watch movies online on sites whether you have to pay or not for it, it is also possible to watch TV on your computer screen and through the internet.
You will almost certainly say that web television is something we have all heard of for some time now, and that due to the low number of these web televisions, it will never really substitute the good old television monitor and the channels we all watch. Well, you are probably right for the moment about web channels, but it is probably going to change in the coming years.

Web TV is something fairly recent in the internet world and has been as successful as cable channels for instance. Only a few people know of some names and watch them, but it is a good starting point for somebody or a company with a limited budget.
We are not talking about video on demand though. Even if it is something that has become very popular, it is not the same thing. Going back to web television, it seems that some TV channel have found some interest in web television and have created their web television, usually based on what they broadcast on television. But in this case, we could wonder if this is not like a mix between video on demand and web television if nothing new is brought to this kind of web tv.

You can find web channels on nearly any topic, going from news, to sport of politics. This is also a good way to develop regional television with local programs that a lot of people will find interesting and watch because it brings them information directly related to them whether it is on the city they live in or in the area they live in.

With web television, we are not to a point where you can watch free movies online but who knows, there might be web only channels in the future that would be as popular and as watched as cable or normal channels, with free movies, series and documentaries like any other channel.
This promises some interesting future developments that could bring television to a new era. Streaming movies is a good example of what technology can do.
