TIER IV, the driving force behind the world's first open-source software for autonomous driving, was honored to receive the METI Minister's Award at the 2024 Nippon Startup Awards in Tokyo on July 22. During the award ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office, TIER IV CEO Shinpei Kato had the opportunity to discuss the company's vision and showcase the autonomous driving system to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

TIER IV is at the forefront of developing Autoware*, open-source software for autonomous driving, which is playing a crucial role in advancing the adoption of this technology. Through collaboration with international partners, TIER IV offers scalable software platforms and solutions based on open-source software, contributing to the widespread use of intelligent vehicles that will benefit society as a whole. The company is also supporting the Japanese government's initiative to deploy autonomous vehicles in more than 100 locations by 2027.
