House Extension In Chelmsford: What Is Permissible Without A Full Planning Application?
Planning permission for a house extension can be time-consuming. From checking permitted development rights to seeking pre-application advice and preparing the application to consultation and finally waiting for the decision, a lot has to be dealt with. Homeowners are often curious about whether one can skip the meticulous process when building an extension.
Thanks to permitted development, it’s possible as long as one abides by the rules! Therefore, all need to explore and understand them before embarking on a project to avoid getting into trouble with the law. Let’s start with the primary conditions to be fulfilled, followed by looking into the rules for each type of house extension in Chelmsford.
General Conditions Outlining an Extension Without Planning Permission
Here are the three primary conditions a house owner must fulfil when undertaking a house extension project in the absence of concrete planning permission:
1. No record of home extension in the past
Houses extended since the 1st of July 1948 cannot be worked on to increase living spaces. They will definitely demand planning ...
... permission.
2. Listed houses or those in conservation areas
The type of properties, as given above, is best extended under the guidance of experts.
3. Only houses come under permitted development
Neither flats nor maisonettes are eligible for extension without permitted development. Only houses that have not been converted in the past can be freely developed.
