This morning, Avail, a prominent AI research company specializing in the media industry, unveiled Corpus, a novel platform that empowers creators and media rights holders to authorize their work to AI model developers. Corpus allows rights holders to demand compensation for both archived content and real-time responses derived from their creations.

Alphabet and Meta have reportedly offered studios millions to license their content, as per a Bloomberg report.

OpenAI has inked deals with Vox Media, The Atlantic, News Corp, DotDash Meredith, the Financial Times, and The Associated Press, among other publishers, to license their content for training large language models, according to a report in The Verge.

Although specific deal terms were not disclosed in most agreements, Reddit disclosed in February prior to its IPO filing that it had earned over $200 million by licensing its data to OpenAI.

The Corpus homepage showcases a valuation calculator, offering media companies and creators an estimate of their catalog's value based on recent benchmarks. Interested rights holders can register for a Corpus account to facilitate licensing.

Leading podcast networks, video producers, and online publications are already utilizing Corpus. Launch partners include the prominent short-form video network Mad Realities and Sonoro, the largest Spanish-language podcast producer.
