Atsena Therapeutics Appoints Joseph S. Zakrzewski As Board Chair
Atsena Therapeutics, a gene therapy company focused on treating blindness, has appointed biotech veteran Joseph S. Zakrzewski as Chair of its Board of Directors. CEO Patrick Ritschel praised Zakrzewski’s extensive leadership and business expertise in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, which will aid Atsena in advancing its treatments for inherited retinal diseases. Zakrzewski has over 30 years of experience, including roles as Chairman and CEO of Amarin Pharmaceuticals and executive positions at Eli Lilly & Company.
Zakrzewski expressed his enthusiasm for joining Atsena, highlighting the company's innovative gene therapies and ongoing Phase I/II clinical trials for X-linked retinoschisis and Leber congenital amaurosis type 1. He looks forward to contributing to Atsena’s mission of utilizing genetic medicine to improve patients' lives. Atsena’s pipeline features novel adeno-associated virus (AAV) technology to tackle inherited retinal diseases.
