TIER IV, an innovator in open-source software for autonomous driving systems, has successfully extended its Series B funding round, securing an additional US$54 million. This brings the total Series B funding to US$132 million, with overall funding reaching US$243 million. The Series A round enabled TIER IV to expand beyond its Autoware software to commercialize comprehensive platforms that include communication, insurance, and risk management features. The recent funding will enhance the development of Level 4 autonomous driving systems, safety assessment methods, and reference designs.

Selected for NEDO's Green Innovation Fund Project and Japan's SBIR Phase 3 funding, TIER IV aims to advance electrification modules and establish a robust Level 4 certification framework. These efforts align with the Japanese government's goal to deploy Level 4 systems in over 100 locations by 2027, improving nationwide mobility services. TIER IV's primary applications include mobility and logistics services within a Level 4 regulatory framework. Looking ahead, TIER IV plans to develop new vehicle models, optimized electric and electronic architectures, and a generative world model for end-to-end autonomy, reinforcing its commitment to advancing intelligent vehicles worldwide.
