How To Choose Your Flooring And Find A Tradesman To Fit It
The choice of material you put on the floors of your home is one the most important decorating decisions you will have to make. Not only do you have to think of the physical appearance of the floor, but you also have to consider the type of use it will undergo throughout its lifetime before settling on the right type of material for you.
Carpets are great for warming up cold houses, and they certainly protect children from injuring themselves when they fall. The main drawback with carpets is that they are relatively high maintenance. Apart from vacuuming regularly you will also be faced with having to clean it fairly frequently with a steam cleaner or similar tool. If you have children or pets then the carpet can get dirty fairly quickly.
Another popular option is to put down wooden flooring. This gives a wonderfully clean, modern look to any house and is certainly a lower maintenance choice. The main downside to installing wooden flooring is probably the fact that it can seem very cold, and going from the bed to the bathroom on a cold winter morning can be akin to a particularly invigorating hopscotch competition.

... Vinyl flooring has the same sort of advantages and disadvantages as the wooden type, although if you get a thick, cushioned vinyl it won't be so cold to the touch.
If you have a rustic type of kitchen then a stone floor is hugely recommended. This type of floor covering gives you a really authentic, old fashioned look which can be very snug and welcoming.
In general, I would recommend carpets for adult's bedrooms. In the kid's bedrooms I like wooden or vinyl floors with some rugs safely secured in strategic positions. The living room, kitchen and bathroom are ideal for easy to clean materials such as wood, vinyl or stone. If you can afford to install under floor heating then I would strongly recommend doing it.
Now all that you need is to find a local tradesman to fit the flooring for you. The simplest way to do this is through a site where local builders, plumbers, carpenters etc can vie for your business. Just put down the dimensions, the type of material and the start date then wait for recommended tradesmen to give your their best quote for the work. Once you find a tradesman who suits you then simply hire him online.
