Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are businesses that have fewer than 200 employees & an annual turnover of less than €50 million. They are the backbone of the global economy, accounting for over 90% of all businesses & creating over 60% of all jobs. MSMEs are particularly important in developing countries where they account for over 95% of all businesses & create over 80% of all jobs.

MSMEs are the backbone of the tourism industry. They provide essential services such as accommodation, food & transportation to tourists. They also create jobs & contribute to the local economy. The tourism department should support MSMEs by providing them with training, financial assistance, & marketing opportunities.
