The Egypt Climate... Bright Sunny Outlooks All Year Round!
Egypt can be seen to have only two seasons really; a long hot Summer spanning at least six months, with high temperatures between May and October. The mild Winter generally spans over the few months up to Christmas and the very beginning of new years.
Temperatures in Egypt
Coastal temperatures range between averages of 14 Celsius in Winter times to averages of 30+ Celsius in Summer times. Inland desert areas can vary between single figures to as high as 40+.
The highest temperature averages tend to be in the months of June, July and August (often the driest as well), and the coolest in January / February.
So with average temperatures exceedingly higher than the UK, that's the biggest tick for a holiday hot spot.
Rainfall in Egypt
Rainfall is very low, and mainly only occurs in the Winter months. South of Cairo rainfall often only averages 2 to 5mm per year (a small fraction of an inch!).
Sea-breezes to high winds in Egypt
The northern Mediterranean coastlines usually have a nice steady sea-breeze coming from the North West, a refreshing element.
In April time be careful ...
... of what is locally know as "Khamsin", intense dusty winds blown from the Sahara, whereby sand storms are common. In bad winds and intense sand storms, seeing the tourist sights isn't that breezy/easy, visibility can be dramatically reduced often to only meters.
Humidity in Egypt
The average relative humidity levels (effectively the wetness in the air) averages around 35%, with ranges of 25-45% throughout the year, well within the comfortable range for most people. So in other words the weather isn't too "sticky" or "muggy". Inland areas such as Cairo however can become quite humid with levels often reaching 70%+, the advice is to stick to coastlines whereby sea-breezes help keep moisture levels to a comfortable level.
Cool nights, Hot days in Egypt
Summer retreats are popular, however in it's peak it can be "too hot" for many, so don't rule out Winter getaways. The warm days and cool nights are an ideal combination, if you can travel just outside of the peak Summer periods you'll get some hot deals at cool prices as well.
The Land of the Sun
Egypt is often referred to as "The Land of the Sun", so follow the natural bright sun-rays and be sure to head to Egypt when the temperature scale is just right for you.
