Shingles is also known by the name of Herpes zoster. The same virus which causes chickenpox also cause shingles and that is varicella-zoster virus. Shingles is a viral infection. After the occurrence of the chicken pox usually the virus becomes dormant in your nerve tissue but after many years it can be reactivated in the form of shingles. It is very common among the people who have weak immune system and the people between the ages of 60 and 80.

2. Chills
3. Headache
4. Pain, tingling, itching, burning, or numbness in a certain area of the body.
5. After or within one week of the pain appearance of red rash with fluid filled blisters. Usually the rash appears typically on one side of the chest. It may also occur on one side of the face or neck.
When the blisters dry up generally after one or two weeks pain can persist. Sometimes due to shingles people may suffer from sharp, stabbing pain which may lasts months to years after the rash has disappeared. This condition is called postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).

1. You can powder two aspirin tablets and mix this powder in 2 tablespoon of chloroform or alcohol. Apply this prepared mixture on the affected area. This will provide very good relief.
2. Application of the mixture of yoghurt and zinc oxide will give relief from the problem. If this paste is applied before the outbreak then it will help to curb the outburst of the blisters.
3. Some proteolytic enzymes are very fruitful in the treatment of shingles. These enzymes are found in certain foods like papaya, pineapple etc. supplements derived from these fruits. The side effects of these enzymes include allergic reaction and also digestive upset. People allergic to these fruits may avoid using the supplements derived from these fruits.
4. Tai chi is another natural ingredient which improves the immune function and health which is at risk from shingles especially in older adults.
5. Dust colloidal powder on the affected area to prevent itching due to the problem of shingles.
6. Mix half cup of apple cider vinegar in 2 cups of water and prepare a solution. With the help of cotton cloth moist the area which is affected towards the upward direction. It will positively provide some relief.
7. It is necessary to keep the blisters open and dry. Do not try to scratch the blisters.
