It's that time of year again.

The political races are in full swing and everyone is clamoring to hear what our new presidential hopefuls have to say for themselves, or about the others.

Everyone has an opinion whether that means they favor Trump’s return, the continuance of Biden in office, or a total change with a new person.

In days gone by you could only keep up with the latest political news by tuning into the debates on the TV, reading the paper, or going to a debate yourself.

Now we can watch everything go down with social media in politics.

That's the glory of social media and politics.

With that said, let's go on a journey together to learn why having such broad access to politics can mean a more informed nation and give easier access for the common citizen to jump in on the debate.

Is having politics on social media enhancing our knowledge of the political parties?

With the onset of the internet and social media, things like podcasts and Facebook have become hotbeds ...
... for us to get information.

Sometimes this information is completely reliable to be true.

Though there are times that it is put on the internet to fit the agenda of certain people or groups.

Either way, it allows us to become more informed and opinionated.

When information about certain political parties is put onto social media, true or not, it allows us to gather enough opinion to drive us to either vote for or not like that person and what they stand for.

In the long run, having information about politics and the people who are running for office on social media does enhance our knowledge of them.

Does social media help or hinder the debates?

In many cases social media is an unsupervised space to spread information.

That being said, this means that the information can be biased or completely unbiased.

There could be truth or the information could be put out there to hinder the opposite candidate than the one the writer likes.

Social media can be a good tool for a political candidate, though.

If a candidate was to put a speech or write their own words on a social media platform or broadcast then they have effectively reached far more people than they could by just touring a few states.

Finding a great platform to catch up on the latest in politics

Do some research when looking for a platform to catch up on the latest in politics or get your own opinion out there and join in the discussion.

Find a site, group, or podcast that is unbiased.

See what kinds of articles they post to determine their stance and determine how they work with social media in politics.

Do enough research to see if the information is being posted by the average Joe with no supervision, by a political party, or by a moderated reliable source.

Be mindful that social media and politics means that you may not always be getting the truth all the time.

Regardless of what you read, see or hear you will have to use your own knowledge and opinion to find the best platform to catch up on the latest news about your favorite candidate.
