Physics Wallah, a leading edtech unicorn founded by Alakh Pandey, has taken a significant step forward by inaugurating PW Gurukulam School in Gurugram, marking its entry into offline education. This move underscores the company's expansion into primary education, offering instruction from play school to seventh grade. With an emphasis on experiential learning and an innovative curriculum, PW Gurukulam aims to revolutionize elementary education in India.

Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), PW Gurukulam School has already attracted an impressive enrollment of 400 students for its inaugural academic year. The curriculum is meticulously crafted to align with the National Education Policy 2020, prioritizing a holistic approach to learning. Alakh Pandey, Founder and CEO of Physics Wallah, articulated the school's vision, stating, “At PW Gurukulam, we aim to offer education that covers a wide spectrum and will enable students to choose from limitless possibilities rather than conventional career paths.”

Through innovative initiatives like Model United Nations (MUN), the school seeks to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Additionally, the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying, prioritizing a safe and inclusive learning environment.

This foray into offline primary education represents a significant milestone for Physics Wallah, renowned for its online IIT/JEE and NEET coaching services. Since its inception in 2020, Physics Wallah has diversified its portfolio to include postgraduate programs, UPSC preparation, and upskilling courses. What began as a YouTube channel has evolved into a network comprising over 72 tech-enabled offline Vidyapeeth and 28 hybrid Pathshala locations across India.

The decision to establish physical schools reflects a broader trend in the edtech sector, with companies increasingly embracing offline channels alongside their online offerings. Despite challenges posed by the ongoing funding winter in the Indian edtech ecosystem, Physics Wallah and other startups have demonstrated resilience. Notably, BYJU’s, a prominent player in the sector, faces a significant crisis amid these circumstances.

In December of the previous year, Physics Wallah, having joined the unicorn club in 2022 following a $100 million funding round, reported a remarkable surge in revenue from operations. Year-on-year, revenue increased by 3.3 times, reaching INR 771.76 crore in the financial year 2022-23. This exponential growth underscores the growing demand for Physics Wallah's educational offerings across both online and offline platforms. Furthermore, Physics Wallah aims to expand its offline presence further, with plans to establish over 120 centers by 2024.
