Wren’s Nest
Every Saturday, The Wren's Nest hosts house tours and a live storytelling hour. House tours are offered every hour and half hour from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., as well as at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., after a live storytelling performance at 1 p.m. Tour participants will learn about the life of Joel Chandler Harris, an early editor of the Atlanta Constitution and creator of the characters Br'er Rabbit and Uncle Remus, by exploring each room of The Wren's Nest, his historic home. For decades, The Wren's Nest has hosted a weekly Saturday storytelling hour, allowing visitors to hear the stories in their original form. These sessions feature four professionals. Each brings a distinct style to the old stories, bringing them to life. The Harris family lived in the house from 1881 to 1908, and it was turned into a museum in 1913. It is now a National Historic Landmark.
