Tum Autonomous Motorsports Wins Third Annual Autonomous Challenge @ Ces

CES 2024's Autonomous Challenge @ CES was won by the Technical University of Munich's (TUM) Autonomous Motorsport team, according to the Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), a pioneer in high-speed autonomy. Despite bad weather, TUM Autonomous Motorsport's racecar reached 150 mph. The TUM team beat University of Virginia Cavalier Autonomous Racing, which finished second, in a dramatic race.

The semifinal saw the TUM and KAIST teams race side by side for the first time in high-speed autonomous racing. The cars turned with 1.5 meters separating them, a milestone in autonomous racing.

TUM's success highlights autonomous technology advances and the spirit of young creators. After TUM's success, three IAC racecars with the Next Gen Autonomous Vehicle Platform (IAC AV-24) ran on the course concurrently. This was the first high-speed autonomous race.

Known as the most advanced and quickest autonomous racecar, the IAC AV-24 showed its skills under track lights before dusk. Unlit racecars with AI driver algorithms showed autonomous vehicle technology's ability to work in difficult situations.
