The test gun for this month is nostalgic, at least, Professional think so. It's a 12-bore pump-action Mossberg Forend Field that was imported by Viking Arms, a well-known gun wholesaler in Harrogate and a major participant in the UK gun market.

It appears to be a workhorse of medium weight (about 7 pounds). It is a gun with a 28" multi-choked barrel (the only length available). It is resistant as Mossberg Forearm for a steel bullet and has a ten millimeter flat, matted, vented rib. It is also a 3" magnum. A black ventilated rubber cushion is attached to its synthetic black stock. The action as well as barrel is finished in a matt black that resembles Packetized glass.

It's not necessary to own a black firearm, though; for the same price, a wood-stocked model is available. A somewhat upgraded version is also available, with superior wood, a jeweled bolt, and an elegant white-line recoil cushion.

With more than 11 million sales, the Mossberg 500 is one of the most well-liked shotguns in the US. It is available there in a variety of sports, military, and law enforcement models at competitive prices; a 500-based ...
... line-throwing pistol is one of the options. This incredibly popular pump pistol comes in 12-, 20-, and.410 calibers. The 12-bore model has an extended magazine that holds five or eight shots. Some of the sound-moderated weapons manufactured by Hush power throughout the UK are based on the 500.

Review of professional shooters

With their alloy receiver as well as double-action bars, they are a tried-and-true design. They are really trustworthy. Despite the fact that US stocks are sometimes a little short and lacking in the comb, they handle nicely.

The side-by-side sliding safety of the 500 design, which is often positioned to the back of an action (most repeater devices have a bar-type security to the back of the trigger guard), is one particularly intriguing feature. Therefore, if you are unfamiliar with repeaters, you won't need to retrain yourself too much to utilize one. Pump guns are generally not very popular here, but the ability to slide safety feature will help those Brits who are more accustomed to double guns understand it a bit better.

Technical

First released in 1961, the Mossberg 500 variant was enhanced in 1970 with the addition of double-action bars. Oscar Frederick Mossberg, a Swedish guns engineer, started the company in 1919. In the meanwhile, the alloy-action of the 500 has grown to be a type classic. It can be proofed for steel loads of three inches. Single-action bars, which were common in older pump guns, have a tendency to crack or bend under pressure.

When Remington's patent upon the feature expired, Mossberg switched to the better twin-bar arrangement (the Remington 870 is still a design classic and has sold more than 10 million units).

This rifle was created with affordable industrial manufacturing in mind from the beginning. Despite all the variations throughout the years, the fundamental idea behind it has remained rather same.

Comparing the pump design to a gas-operated semi-auto, less cleaning is required. Despite being shorter than many contemporary chokes, the chokes that are provided are known for their good patterning.

Capturing Moments

It is unless that you actually want to end up your host, you won't be able to use the 500 to win a sports clays tournament or to go on a driven shoot. On the other hand, this may be ideal if you require a Land Rover or a rifle for farming or shoot, or if you just want something safe to carry on the marshland or in a hide.

At 7 pounds like Mossberg Forearm, the pistol isn't hefty, and it has a surprisingly good balance. Shooting the 500 causes it to cycle naturally.
