Malaga Is Boring? - I Think Not! 5 Things To Do In This Spanish Port
There are many beautiful cities in the world - Venice, Paris, Geneva, Florence - to name a few, so why should you bother visiting Malaga? Well Malaga is located in southern Spain, just off the Mediterranean Sea and boasts a fabulous climate. The city has a population of only 570,000 but don't let this moderate size deceive you, as there is plenty to do here.
For the perfect view of Malaga, you could attempt to hike to the top of Gibralfaro Mountain, but make sure your fitness is up to it! If you don't hike, or you're simply looking for other things to do in Malaga, a few of my favorite options are listed below.
One of the most popular attractions in Malaga is the Museo del Vidrio y Cristal de Malaga. If you're not fluent in Spanish, this means Museum of Glass and Crystal. What makes this museum different from most others is that the owner will often give you his own personal tour, specifically describing each piece of art as you make your way around the museum. Some of the finest pieces of glass and crystal art in the world can be found here.
If you have an interest in history and/or religion, be sure to ...
... visit the Malaga Cathedral. This incredible structure was built in the 1500s and renovated in the 1800s. It's a beautiful building from the outside, but even more impressive from the inside. If you appreciate beautiful stained glass and well-defined sculptures, you will be more than pleased with your visit to Malaga Cathedral.
If you would prefer to see something a little more on the natural side, consider going to the Pileta Caves. You will have an opportunity to walk around with a torch and see etched symbols that are over 25,000 years old. Just outside of the caves also makes for a great location for a picnic.
If you want to really get to know Malaga, take advantage of Malaga Walks. There are three options to choose from: Discovery Walk, Night Walk, and Tapas Walk. Each one is fun and an education, but getting to go on all of them would be ideal.
For those who appreciate fine dining at its best, you could try eating at least one meal at Meson Astorga. Here you will usually find great service, superb food, a variety of portion sizes, and best of all, you will have an opportunity to experience traditional Malaga cuisine.
There is much more to do in Malaga, but the above information will allow you to taste a little of what is on offer.
Looking for a vehicle rental during your trip? Visit car hire malaga to search for a great deal that you can use to explore the surrounding Andalucia coastline and outlying villages.
