Family history is often considered to be a probable factor contributing to Premenstrual syndrome. Other factors leading to the onset of Premenstrual syndrome are intake of caffeine in high level, usage of tobacco. Stress can also precipitate such condition. So it is common among those having history of depression and bipolar disorder. Increase in age and dietary imbalance can induce this condition. If the diet is low in minerals like manganese, magnesium etc and Vitamins like vitamin E and vitamin B then it can be a resulting factor for PMS. However, most scientists believe that PMS results due to alteration in brain chemical and sex hormone. Some also like to believe that PMS is not related to psychological disorder.
