Premenstrual Syndrome (pms) Symptoms And Treatment

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is also called premenstrual tension or PMT is a collected form of psychological, physical, and emotional symptoms which relates to a women's menstrual cycle. While most of the child bearing women's have experienced psychological and physical symptoms which relates to normal ovary functions such as breast tenderness or bloating, medical definitions of PMS are limited to a frequent pattern of physical and emotional symptoms occurring during the luteal phase of menstrual cycle. These kinds of symptoms usually occur regularly during the ten days prior to menses and these symptoms are quiet predictable. These may disappear either shortly before or after the beginning of menstrual flow.
Premenstrual symptoms can be seen in very small percentage of women hardly 2 to 5%. Behind Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) there are many factors that are causing this disorder. But the exact causes of PMS are not fully understood. While PMS is connected to luteal phase, measurements of sex hormone are within the normal levels. From a preliminary study it has been analyzed that women's with PMS symptoms suffers from a significant decline in their circulating serum levels of beta-endorphin.
Premenstrual Syndrome associates more than 200 different symptoms with them, but the three most notable symptoms are tension, irritability, and dysphoria or unhappiness. Some common non-specific and emotional symptoms includes anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, fatigue, severe headache, changing of mood, increased emotional sensitivity, and changes in libido. Some of the physical symptoms of PMS which are linked to menstrual cycle are abdominal cramps, bloating, constipation, tenderness in the breasts, muscle or joint pain, and cyclic acne.
There are lots of treatments which have been suggested for treating Premenstrual Syndrome, including changes in lifestyles or diet. The treatment of PMS has become possible with the invention of new treatment techniques which includes therapies; surgeries etc supportive therapies include reassurance, evaluation, and counseling which helps a patient to regain control over her life. Sometimes aerobic exercises also prove to be beneficial to the person suffering from PMS. Vitamins such as Vitamin E and vitamin B6 are very effective for treating PMS.
