Lifezone, Glencore Partner To Recycle Platinum Group Metals In Usa
Lifezone Metals partners with Glencore for USA PGM recycling venture. Utilizing Hydromet technology, the joint project aims for cleaner, efficient recycling of platinum, palladium, and rhodium from automotive catalytic converters. Phase 1 piloting in Australia precedes a scalable Phase 2 commercial facility in the USA, targeting high purity PGMs. Costs include $3M for Phase 1 and $15-20M for Phase 2. Glencore provides funding and acts as the sole marketer. The venture, driven by Lifezone's Hydromet tech, prioritizes eco-friendly and economically viable recycling solutions. Lifezone also focuses on the Kabanga Nickel Project in Tanzania, aiming to introduce a sustainable source of battery metals while fostering local value creation.
