On October 26, 2023, entrepreneurs from Asia competed for the 12th Asia Entrepreneurship Award (AEA) at Kashiwa-no-ha.

The 10 selected finalists were shown in the final session. They offered new businesses for evaluation on numerous parameters. Innovativeness for the globe, influence on the economy and society, feasibility, competitive superiority, management competence, strategy justification, collaboration with Japanese enterprises, and Japanese market expansion potential were considered.

The first prize went to Hong Kong startup I2Cool Limited. Their novel cooling paint reflects sunlight, emits thermal radiation, and requires no refrigerant, “thereby contributing to energy efficiency and decarbonization”. Commercially promising and socially influential, the technology was regarded for its global significance beyond Japan. The prize was unanimously awarded.

Another high-profile award, the Kashiwa-no-ha Prize, which guarantees support from the Smart City for demonstrating business effectiveness, went to Yanekara Inc., a Japanese start-up that develops “A state-of-the-art bidirectional EV charger and a cloud software which can provide and store power to EVs by the solar power”.
