Is It Worth Buying Playa Del Carmen Real Estate Off The Beachfront?

The main strength of Playa del Carmen, both in tourism and in real estate has typically been the beachfront, or areas very near to it. While making your plans to buy in Playa del Carmen you may ask yourself, "Is it worth considering Playa del Carmen real estate that's not close to the beach?"
The answer is "Yes, of course!" Currently, two key factors help to make this true. One is that because of the layout of Playa del Carmen and many easy-to-reach public access points, even the furthest developments still have good access to the beach, never more than 15 minutes away. The other is that recent planning has focused on bringing high-quality developments and a large number of new services and economic diversity to the far side of the federal highway (the one that runs parallel to the beach, from Cancun to Tulum, less than 10 minutes from the beach at Playa del Carmen.)

... to the beachfront. Outside of downtown, major access roads from the west of the city (the highway side) end at public access points, with regular entrances between.
For residents who don't live walking distance, driving down to Playa's most popular beaches, finding parking and walking to the beach is relatively easy. A taxi ride from most areas would cost about $2.50. (Going back, however, they'll charge about $4, if you get picked up right next to the beach - you can walk a block or two back if you want to save that $1.50.)
The other factor that's important in considering the value of properties further away from the beachfront is Playa del Carmen's new emphasis on bring investment to the part of city on the far side of the highway from the beach. This investment is intended to include a diversification of economy, including colleges and green industry. It is already drawing luxury Playa del Carmen real estate developments, focused on offering a high level of convenience, comfort and safety.
There are 2 new shopping malls on this side of the highway, with large screen theaters. In the plans are an upscale outdoor shopping plaza and hotel, to be located between one of the malls and the city's existing cultural center. A main access "Arch Road" provides fast and easy driving to all locations throughout this part of the city, along with about 4 major roads running directly down to the beach. Life in this part of the city is convenient and comfortable, and the city is working to make it more so.
If you're considering Playa del Carmen real estate, and living a 10-15 minute drive to the beach is close enough for you, consider buying a home or condo in these new areas; you will be pleasantly surprised by the price-to-quality ratio you can find!
