are designing, developing and deploying. A couple of years ago, there were a number of sms survey tools flooding the market but none really took off. Sms surveys do not work too well, though they seemed simple enough. Though mobile technology is changing rapidly, it is only the iPhone and other Smartphone users who can really be quick with their responses for online surveys targeting mobile users. For those using the traditional cell phone, sms is still optimal as mobile browsers are too slow.
A research conducted in 2007 showed that the quickest and highest response was from the age group 16 to 24 and the lowest from individuals above the age 55. The reason perhaps is that young adults are never without their cell phones and check incoming messages constantly. Therefore, when messages regarding paid sms surveys come, they respond quickly.
There has been another interesting finding on mobile surveys . While the response rate in the ‘under-25' age group is very high, the incompletion rate for sms questionnaires is also higher than the over-55 age group, meaning that youngsters are more comfortable with the mobile survey format than the traditional format.
