Forge Raises $11m To Reward Gamers
Forge, a revolutionary video game platform that aims to connect and reward players for their gaming successes and continuous play, has released its beta edition with a large $11 million initial funding round. Forge was developed to connect and reward gamers for their gaming achievements and ongoing play. The fundraising was driven by notable investors such as Makers Fund, BITKRAFT Ventures, and Animoca Brands. Hashkey Capital, Polygon Ventures, Formless Capital, and Adaverse also participated in the funding. The current investors in Forge include some of the most well-known names in the gaming business, such as Griffin Gaming Partners, Riot Games, and Sony Innovation Fund. It also boasts an impressive list of angel investors, which includes gaming industry luminaries like Marc Merrill (Riot Games founder), Emmett Shear and Kevin Lin (Twitch founders), Dan Dinh (TSM founder), Kevin Chou and Holly Liu (Kabam founders), Steve Chen (YouTube founder), CH Kim (Krafton CEO), Eros Resmini (former Discord CMO), and Ralf Reichart (ESL founder).
Forge is the brainchild of gaming pioneer Dennis "Thresh" Fong, Kun Gao (creator of ...
... Crunchyroll), and George Ng (founder of Cyence). Initially, Forge emerged as a project under GGWP, which is an AI-powered game moderation platform that will be released in 2020. Since then, it has developed into a separate firm with the goal of assisting players in maximizing the value of their gaming profiles and compensating them for the contributions they make to various online gaming communities.
Kun Gao, one of the co-founders of Forge, highlighted the distinctive approach that the platform takes by saying, "We wanted to create a platform that finally rewards gamers for being who they are, through their profile and history as a gamer, through their passion, engagement, and community participation."
