HeartX, a cardiovascular-focused healthcare accelerator, has announced the selection of five startup healthcare companies for its 2023 program. HeartX is powered by HealthTech Arkansas, MedAxiom, and eleven leading cardiology practices from Arkansas and across the United States. This accelerator program offers guaranteed hospital pilot projects and clinical trials to early-stage companies developing innovative cardiovascular solutions. The selected startups for the 2023 HeartX program are as follows:

1. Flosonics Medical (Canada): Flosonics produces the FloPatch, a wireless, wearable Doppler ultrasound device that quickly assesses carotid arterial pulse. This technology helps clinicians determine a patient's fluid responsiveness, preventing ineffective IV fluid administration.

2. Happitech (Netherlands): Happitech provides a scalable solution for identifying atrial fibrillation (AF) risk by using a smartphone's camera. Users place a finger on the camera for 90 seconds to screen for AF, making it accessible for at-risk populations and promoting health equity.

3. MindMics (Massachusetts, United States): MindMics ...
... offers heart monitoring through low-frequency acoustical vibrations detected in the ear canal using earbuds and hearing aids. This technology is skin-tone agnostic and clinically validated.

4. Nanowear (New York, United States): Nanowear utilizes AI-based remote diagnostics with patented cloth-based nanosensors to capture over 85 medical-grade biomarkers from the skin. This data feeds machine-learning algorithms for personalized healthcare.

5. SmartCardia (Switzerland): SmartCardia's 7L Patch is a revolutionary ECG patch for cardiology and remote patient monitoring, providing real-time ECG and vitals. It serves multiple service types, including Mobile Cardiac Telemetry, Holter monitoring, and Event Monitoring.

These startups were hand-selected by participating cardiology practices and will receive $150,000 in investment capital. They will also gain access to clinicians and administrators for executing their pilot projects and clinical studies.

Jeff Stinson, director of HealthTech Arkansas, expressed excitement about the 2023 HeartX cohort and the program's international prominence. Joe Sasson, PhD, MedAxiom's chief commercial officer, highlighted the rapid pace of innovation in the cardiovascular industry and the program's commitment to advancing care delivery.

The program reflects collaboration between eleven cardiology practices, HealthTech Arkansas, and MedAxiom to select companies with technologies that have the potential to advance cardiovascular innovation. HeartX aims to provide revolutionary solutions to improve patient care and outcomes.
