Few drinks, or bites and eats, are as special as tea. We drink tea to warm up our bodies (or cool them down in summer), we drink tea at home and the office, we enjoy it when we visit friends or socialise with others, and we drink it for its many supposed health benefits.
These days there are so many teas to choose from, one of which, Moroccan Mint Tea, has become a firm favourite in many parts of the world, right from, of course, northern Africa and the Mediterranean to Manchester and London.

ORGANIC

Moroccan tea can also be purchased as an organic tea by those who support sustainable agriculture and healthy living, which means you buy only foods and beverages free from additives that could be seen as harmful to the body. Therefore the person that buys organic, will look for the retailers and/or suppliers of organic Moroccan Mint Tea in their local store, or at the shopping mall – or at a website that markets this option.

SOME HISTORY

There are no definite answers as to how tea came to Morocco as, centuries ago, it was known only in the East, in countries such as India, Japan and China, ...
... where still millions of tons are exported to the West and Africa every year. One theory holds that a British tea merchant who had to deliver a shipment of tea to Sweden, but because he could not manage it, diverted his delivery to Morocco, where soon the locals made this tea their own. In time they added dried mint to it to create the infusion which is, today, Moroccan Mint Tea. Others theorise that tea came via Portugal and Spain across the Mediterranean to the region. Whatever the truth, it no longer matters. All that is important is that these days tea everywhere is enjoyed in copious amounts –Moroccan Mint Tea

DOES MOROCCAN MINT TEA HAVE ANY BENEFITS?

As is the case with green teas in general, it is believed that Moroccan Mint Tea does have positive, healing, benefits that support better health.
• It supports greater immunity. This tea contains several good, healthy minerals that boost the body’s defences, for example, selenium, magnesium, copper, and calcium. Drinking it regularly may well have positive outcomes for your natural immunity as this tea helps you fight bacteria and viruses.
• Breathe more easily. Moroccan Mint tea contains menthol which helps act as an anti-inflammatory agent in the respiratory tract. Brew this tea when you are suffering from a cold or breathlessness associated with the cold, and you find some relief.
• It helps fight stress. The amino acid L-Theanine that it contains ups your levels of GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid), which is known to calm people down, even in times of severe stress.
The above are mere examples. There may be more. What is certain, is that Moroccan Green Tea, especially when organically grown, can only have positive effects on the tea drinker’s body and mind.

PREPARATION

Some people are happy to save time in their busy schedule when they prepare their Moroccan Mint Tea, therefore they buy bags and pour hot water over the tea, let it infuse for a few minutes and then enjoy their cup. Another group prefers to make their tea in a pot. So you take a teaspoon full of Moroccan Mint and place it in the pot. Warm up the pot first by rinsing it with warm/boiling water. Pour hot water over the leaves and let it steep for 3 – 5 minutes. Pour yourself, or your guests a cup. Honey is often added for a lovely, sweet taste.
WHERE DOES ONE BUY THIS TEA?

You will find it in most specialist shops, and certainly in many shops in your local mall, as well as on leading websites in the UK and elsewhere.
