The changes in technology have definitely brought about both advantages and disadvantages. For example, technology has made it possible for men to process information at lightning speed. Unfortunately, because man can now do more, they do not find it hard to take on more than what they can actually do. This ultimately leads to burnout as well as a host of medical problems. This is where occupational medicine comes in.

Occupational Medicine is that branch of medicine that is concerned with the relationship between work and health. Also referred to as industrial medicine, occupational medicine doctors are usually employed or consulted by companies to ensure that their personnel are at the peak of their health.

If you are interested in becoming an occupational medicine doctor, one of the things that you need to accomplish is a four-year undergraduate degree. You can choose from any of the science courses such as Biology or chemistry to start you on the right track. Once you have finished your undergraduate degree, you would then need to work on your residency.

During the third year of your residency, it would ...
... be a good idea to spend at least four months providing medical care to a company. This experience is required if you would want to be a full-fledged occupational medicine/ medical servicers doctor. Once you have completed your residency, you should then work on getting your Master's Degree in Public Health. This would arm you with knowledge in epidemiology as well as work physiology.

Since, as an occupational medicine/ medical servicers doctor, you would be dealing with occupational hazards, it is also a good idea, although not required, to arm yourself with knowledge about the different laws covering injuries sustained by employees during the performance of their work. Keep in mind that these laws differ from one state to another. For example, in the state of Virginia, only injuries that were immediately felt while performing ones work can qualify for worker's compensation.

Once you have undergone all the needed trainings, make sure that you secure your license before you practice your profession as an occupational medicine/ medical servicers doctor. This is something that is required by law in most states. Do not forget to renew it a few months before it expires so that you won't have any problems.
