We had a bad experience with a London builder once, which is something neither my husband nor I would like to live through again. As a result, we both understand the need to engage the services of a recommended builder, even though they may be slightly more expensive than other local tradespersons.

We are both in our early sixties, and recently retired. For the past year, we had been struggling to make ends meet, because our eldest son was badly injured after a car accident, and we had to take over his mortgage payments. We decided to sell our big house outside London, and buy something smaller in Bedfordshire where the prices are lower. We used the profit to pay off our son's mortgage and buy a small new car. Our pensions are sufficient for us again, and we are looking forward to a quiet future together.
