The Department of Defense (DoD) has announced nearly $240 million in awards under the CHIPS Act to establish eight regional innovation hubs as part of its Microelectronics Commons initiative. MITRE and MITRE Engenuity, as proponents of the U.S. government's efforts to bolster the domestic semiconductor industry, have played a pivotal role in this initiative. MITRE is a founding member of the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub, which is one of the recipients of these awards.
