Changing Your Home Into Eco Friendly Residence

Recently, an entire solar powered village was announced in Dubai. Eco friendly products, designs and eco friendly businesses are getting increasingly popular these days. Solar panels are just one of those techniques that you can employ to adapt a more nature friendly lifestyle. Not only it proves to be healthier and more cost efficient, it also adds value to your property. Since green business and green lifestyle is in trend now days and in future we can expect home buyers to be seeking environment friendly homes or apartments.
So how do you make your residence more eco friendly? That is fairly easy if you are going to build a new home (you can install solar panels or use insulation, etc) however transforming old homes into eco friendly residence is relatively difficult. Still, there are innumerable changes that you can easily make.
Natural Light & Air Ventilation:
Natural light can not only lit our houses, it's also capable of brightening up our lives. Sunlight has a very positive impact on our mood and energy. When building homes, you should spend significant amount of time in carefully planning the ...
... location of windows. If the windows cannot be used because of the room position or some other reason, make use of tubular skylights. It will save a lot on your electricity bills as well. Similarly, a quality ventilation system, whether natural or mechanical is a must. Mechanical ventilation systems can provide many controls such as exhaust system, heat recovery, speed controller or furnace integration.
Saving Energy:
There are so many ways to save energy, using energy saving electronics, switching off unnecessary appliances, setting your heating/cooling systems to a lower degree, using double glazed windows , replacing old electrical machines (because the newer ones are more energy efficient). You can also make use of alternate energy, for example using wood burners in place of electric heaters.
Recycling & Reusing:
There's nothing wrong in buying used furniture, washing machine, vehicles, or any other commodity as long as it can serve the purpose. Similarly, when you are looking to dump some of your items, don't throw them away in trash. Instead, find some needy ones in your neighborhood who may be in need of that item. You can donate your books, clothes, sports equipment and the likes. It may not affect the environment of your home directly, but adapting these green living practices as a community will have a constructive bearing on the entire society, for sure.
