Electric Era Technologies has successfully concluded its Series A funding round, led by HSBC Asset Management, alongside contributors SQM Lithium Ventures, Blackhorn Ventures, and Proeza Ventures. This funding infusion of $11.5 million will facilitate the ramping up of production and deployment of their PowerNode™ EV high-speed charging stations. These stations are intended to cater to the surging demand for reliable, fast, and cost-effective EV charging infrastructure at convenience stores and quick service retailers (QSRs) in the United States.

The distinctive feature of Electric Era's PowerNode charging stations lies in their utilization of an in-house real-time and autonomous software platform, ensuring optimized performance and an impressive 99.5% reliability rate for both EV drivers and convenience store partners. Remarkably, a PowerNode charging station can provide a 100-mile charge for a typical EV within less than 10 minutes, accommodating over 100 vehicles per day.

The company's PowerNode-OS, inspired by principles from Silicon Valley and space technology, aims to introduce fast, reliable, and cost-efficient charging stations to retail locations where drivers often make stops. This innovative approach caters to the needs of EV drivers while delivering substantial value to convenience store partners.

Electric Era's charging system capitalizes on patented technology and AI-driven software to enable real-time control over grid power consumption, hardware reliability, and a battery buffer. The system's built-in battery discharges automatically to support increased charging demand, subsequently reducing the load on the grid and allowing for more charging sessions per day at a lower overall cost. In a mere 16 weeks, the PowerNode charging system can be installed, avoiding the prolonged timeframe typically associated with grid infrastructure upgrades.

Michael D’Aurizio, a climate-focused venture capital investor at HSBC Asset Management, emphasized the importance of Electric Era's technology in the broader context of reducing carbon emissions from transportation. He commended the company's innovative solutions to reliability and grid challenges associated with EV fast charging.

Electric Era is strategically expanding its presence across convenience stores in the US, a market frequented by around 160 million Americans daily, according to NACS. The objective is to offer easily accessible, well-lit, and affordable charging stations that function seamlessly without requiring a dedicated app, mimicking the conventional refueling process with the swipe of a credit card.

The initial PowerNode installation is set to launch at a Plaid Pantry convenience store in Portland, Oregon, in early September, with plans to roll out similar installations across nine states by year-end. Electric Era envisions a substantial network of more than 10,000 PowerNode charging stations at convenience stores across the US by the end of the decade.

With this new funding, Electric Era Technologies' total funding reaches $19 million. The company, established in 2019 by former SpaceX engineers, aspires to drive the electrification and decarbonization of the transportation industry by offering widespread, dependable, and economical EV fast charging through its proprietary PowerNode EV charging stations and AI-driven software platform. This infrastructure will be integrated into gas stations, convenience stores, and quick service retailers throughout the United States.
