According to some historical records, the Kailasa Temple was constructed by the Rashtrakuta king Krishna I, who ruled from 756 to 773 CE. He was a powerful and ambitious ruler, who expanded his empire and patronized art and culture. He commissioned the temple as a symbol of his devotion to Shiva and his supremacy over his rivals. However, there is no definitive evidence that links the temple to Krishna I, as there is no inscription or inscription on the temple that mentions his name or his reign. The only clues are some epigraphs that refer to a king named Krishnaraja, who is assumed to be Krishna

The construction of the Kailasa Temple was a remarkable feat of engineering and architecture. It involved excavating more than 200,000 tons of rock from the hillside, creating a huge trench around the temple, and carving out intricate sculptures and reliefs on the walls and pillars. The temple consists of four main parts: a courtyard, a gateway, a shrine, and a tower.

The courtyard is surrounded by galleries that depict scenes from Hindu mythology, such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. The gateway is decorated with ...
... statues of elephants and lions, symbolizing strength and courage. The shrine houses a lingam, a symbol of Shiva, and is flanked by two smaller shrines dedicated to his consorts Parvati and Ganga.

The Kailasa Temple is not only a masterpiece of Indian art and architecture, but also a mystery that challenges our understanding of history and technology. How did the ancient builders manage to carve such a colossal structure from a single rock? How did they plan and execute such a complex design? What tools and techniques did they use? What was their motivation and inspiration? These are some of the questions that still remain unanswered about this amazing temple
